Strike # 1
Nicholas Lara invited me to a meeting with student leaders from other houses of study of Caracas. He said people would UCAB, UCV, UNIMET and more. A Freddy Guevara Nicolas contacted him, representing the Catholic, but he could not go. He told me, I said to Cali and we were the two. Upon arrival met Freddy, the sponsor of this meeting. In the same room was such a Stalin, which honestly had no idea who he was, a certain John Goicochea (so I wrote that day on my cell) and Ana Teresa Yanez, of the Metro. They offered us cookies, drinks and sign a document which stated "the need for a debate between presidential candidates by the Venezuelan youth" which would open and notorious manner. We read this paper, we drank such beverages and we ate these cookies. Signed and established contact. It was the first time I had met leaders and / or Student representatives from other universities.
Obviously the request of the debate by students slipped under the media table. At the end of the day, who was interested in what students had to say?
Strike # 2
A meeting at the campaign headquarters of Manuel Rosales. I do not remember how we got to that point, but Sinda, Cali and I were invited. There was Eduardo Massieu, who came from the UCAB; a person-I do not remember his name, who had been responsible for the initiative "Lie for Life (in response to the murder of Faddoul brothers and the problem of insecurity), and people of the UCV and Los Teques. Furthermore, the respected lawyer, politician, writer and former guerrilla Americo Martin at the beginning of the meeting.
The idea was to conduct a concert by and for youth. And peace. Submit Venezuelan bands on stage that would attract people and call for peace. And to vote. Awareness the serious problem of insecurity. And the country. All this looks at the presidential elections in December. But the concert was to be a juvenile strictly nonpartisan initiative.
Our role in this meeting was to help shape this mess of ideas and eventually promote the event final. We gave our opinion, listen to others (especially Mr. Américo, who gave us an introductory talk long but nutritious) and we were expecting a call that never materialized.
The result: a concert on the highway by the support of the "young" Manuel Rosales hosted by A New Era.
Strike # 3
Plan V
A student at Simon allied to CEUSB, Maria Elena Villalobos, invited us to join a new initiative. The first will take care of the votes on election day, be present at the polling place all day in the count, the audit- and be part of a network of trained local leaders electorally. To this were issued numerous training workshops and recruitment, which we (CEUSB) were invited to a custom USB.
Rodrigo Diamanti, Miguel Sabal, Martha Larrazabal, Katherina Hruskovec and others were the creators and promoters. We gave the workshop and participate. Then there were workshops to workshops and thus multiplying the message. The ambition was to make it nationwide. In addition to the voter, or rather the kind of action that day, some activities were scheduled prior called to vote and defend it. Were based activities flashmobs and broke with everyday activities to get the message. One of them was to go to Sambil rush hour and in an organized way but hidden, throw about 2000 flyers from the top at the same time. Synchronized clocks, handing out flyers and we did. In addition, the flyers had a youth language that were nice and innovative.
Plan V was the first student initiative organized such activities (to be repeated in the CCCT, Recess, there was a called to vote in the Centro San Ignacio on a Saturday night on the highway activities, write to the boards of universities, to posters without permission, among others) that served to "train" in some way in these situations. Especially we of the Simon, the apathetic college devoted only to study. That was my alma mater, and the few we went to Plan V to USB fought against it with all our desire.
This was a politically active quarter for us, for me. Motivated by the presidential campaign, many joined the cause. But what happens when you fight with everything and lost? Sinned naive to believe we were going to win (me included in the Rosales camp), I was convinced. After the results I became depressed, like all other naive like me. However, after long having been "active" needed to do something. And we were many who were in the same situation.
Juan Andres Mejia, a friend from school and my college-mate and his brothers held a meeting after the elections. I was surprised to see how many people, young people who attended and shared the same concerns and aspirations. Plan V was there, a group formed by Andrés Schloeter and other so-called "Positive Action" Also, people at my school, other colleges, universities and various organizations were present. The elections were on December 3 ys i I remember was the meeting 4. The idea was to consolidate once and for all the various groups into one, in a social movement rather than political, which work by Venezuela and its real change. We had to start taking the future in our hands and not rely on politicians or parties to do so. A new structure had to be born, a new way of acting was required. But we did not articulate clear how. We decided to think about during the holidays and return to this path in January.
never met.
But labor, the people we met, organization, experience and contact mounts on the plate, take our first swings and be mature enough so that, in May 2007, having launched the park.
